When and how Shri Danteshwari Temple was established Shri Dateswari Temple Datewada is believed to be between 13th and 14th century. It is said that the first Kakatiya king of Bastar, Annamdev came here from Warangal (Andhra Pradesh). He had received the blessings of Danteshwari Mata that his kingdom would spread as far as he would go with his mother, it was that Ra did not have to look back and he would rule the land as far as the mother followed him. Mother was about to stop as soon as Annamdev stopped. Annamdev started walking. After walking for several days and nights, he reached the Parri river, Rajim, where he did not feel the sound of the anklet to follow the mother after crossing the river and looked back at the fear of going to the roof of the mother. On looking back, the mother refused to go forward according to the given weight and due to this incident of mother's anklet's voice, the river fell on the basis of the wish of Mother Dateshwari and the dream of King Annamdev. The temple was built in Dantewada. It is believed that the king used to measure the kingdom of Annamdev with his weapon (sari). The name of this car was Bastar. The mother performed the tilak of the king in a big dongar, which is still prevalent today. A statue made of Mata Danteshwari and Bhuvaneshwari has been installed in the temple of Bade Dongar.

According to various Bastar history books, Prataparuddev was born in the Kakatiya dynasty of Warangal, whose information about Annamdev is available as his cousin. In the 13th century, Prataparudradev was made the successor of the Kakatiya dynasty. The Mughal rulers attacked for the third time in Warangal and Prataparuddev was taken captive and taken to Delhi. In the meantime, Anuj Annagdev had marched towards Bastar and established the Kakatiya dynasty by defeating the Nagvansh here. After making Mandhota the capital first by King Annamdev, Jagdalpur was made the capital.

King Annagdev built the temple of Dateswari Devi, who is considered to be his family deity, in the 15th century at Tarlagram (Dantewada). This village was named Dantewada after the name of the goddess. The Kakatiya capitals used to change a lot in the history of Bastar. Jagdalpur was made the permanent capital during the rule of the king in the princely state of Bastar.Being the deity of Shri Mata Devvansh and the temple being Dantewada, it was difficult to come daily for worship work.
